Wenn wir häufig Fleischprodukte, Innereien, Hefeprodukte oder bestimmte Fische essen und / oder gern ein Gläschen Alkohol trinken, kann die Menge an Harnsäure in unserem Blut ansteigen.

Das liegt an einem in der Nahrung enthaltenen Stoff namens Purin, bei dessen Abbau Harnsäure anfällt. Ein erhöhter Harnsäure-Spiegel kann wiederum unsere Gelenke und unsere Nieren herausfordern. Oft spürt man das am nächsten Morgen in den großen Zehen, aber langfristig können alle Gelenke betroffen sein.

Natürlich hilft es, bei der Ernährung auf die ursächlichen Produkte zu verzichten. Man spricht dann von einer „Purin-armen Ernährung“.

Doch Purine komplett zu vermeiden, kann sehr schwierig sein!
